Not everything we make at Unalam gets put to use in buildings or bridges. Some things are for more industrial purposes.
The beams we are gluing below aren't destined for a shiny finish, they will be used for storage for another manufacturer. Due to the specifications these beams need to be 24" wide.
A 24" wide beam requires quite a bit of teamwork in the glue room. We have to use 3 different sizes of lumber to create the 2' wide beam; 2x6, 2x10, and 2x12. When gluing we need people to hold the boards while the three sizes pass through our glue spreader and we can move onto the next "ply".
In the photo above you can see they are holding the 2x6 in place while they wait for the 2x10 and 2x12 to pass through the glue spreader.Team work makes the dream work!
