We are well into football season! It is fun to look back on that one time when we built the world's largest wooden dome! (Now the world's third largest.)
Over 40 years ago we built the 502' span Walkup Skydome for Northern Arizona University's Lumberjacks in Flagstaff, AZ. That 502' feet covers a total of 270,072 square feet and can house over 15,000 spectators. Houston's Astrodome is only slightly larger with a 504' span.
It took over 1.5 million board feet of Southern Yellow Pine and hundreds of unique connections to complete.
