It was an assembly day at Unalam. Trusses for two different projects were in the process of being assembled for shipping. We try to send as many things to the site assembled as possible. This helps reduce on site time putting the members together.
The trusses above have fully exposed steel plates and hardware. Exposed steel connections and hardware are our default when designing a project. Out of the three steel design options this is the most efficient to design and fabricate.
The trusses shown above have partially exposed connections. The plates are hidden in the beam using kerfs, or slots cut into the beams with the hardware left exposed. The bottom picture shows three trusses fully assembled, wrapped, and ready to ship!
